Reigns and Balor’s match was not set in stone at the end of the blue brand’s show last night, but the company did eventually make the match official. Roman Reigns will defend the Universal Championship against Finn Balor next week on SmackDown.

Balor was the first-ever WWE Universal Champion, but his reign lasted less than 24 hours before he had to relinquish the title due to a shoulder injury. Now he will get another shot at the title so many years later.

Brock Lesnar was not on SmackDown this week, and it’s very possible that he won’t show up again until Roman Reigns is free to face him. The two might collide in Saudi Arabia at the Crown Jewel event in October. If Finn Balor has his way, Roman Reigns won’t make it that far as Universal Champion.
