Tonight’s SmackDown is set to feature the fallout of last week’s SummerSlam PPV. Advertised for tonight’s show is new SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch who defeated Bianca Belair at SummerSlam.

No matches have been officially announced but an appearance by Brock Lesnar has been hinted at by WWE on social media.

SmackDown

SmackDown begins live with a recap of Becky Lynch defeating Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at SummerSlam.

SmackDown is live in Little Rock, Arkansas with Michael Cole joined on commentary by Corey Graves and Kevin Owens. New champion Becky Lynch makes her way out to the ring.

Lynch gets on the mic and says The Man has come around to Little Rock. Lynch says she’s not just back, but back on top. Lynch says she’s missed the fans and that her giving up the Raw Women’s Championship was one of the hardest things she’s ever had to do. Lynch says she is going to be deadlier than she ever was before. Lynch mentions SummerSlam and the fans start to boo. Lynch apologizes, for absolutely nothing. Lynch says she’s been around enough to know it’s all about timing. Lynch is interrupted by former champion Bianca Belair.

Belair gets on the mic and says she’s not here to make excuses, but she is not okay with what happened at SummerSlam. Belair says she has been working too hard for Lynch to come back and try to erase everything. Belair says she accepted Lynch’s challenge and Belair challenges Lynch to a championship match tonight. Zelina Vega comes out to mock Belair. Vega says that Belair already embarrassed herself once and Vega says Belair should fall back. Vega says she deserves the match with Becky Lynch. Carmella then comes out and tells Belair and Vega to move out of the way and that Lynch should be facing her tonight. Carmella says she was told one hour before SummerSlam that she was the replacement and she had no time. Liv Morgan then makes her way out. Morgan says Carmella and Vega don’t belong in the title picture after countless defeats. Morgan tells Lynch if she is looking for a contender, she is right there. Belai comes back to say this has nothing to do with anyone but herself and Lynch. Belair once again challenges Lynch directly. Lynch says “nah” and leaves the ring saying “not tonight”. Carmella attacks Belair and Morgan jumps in to attack Carmella as the only person in the ring. Vega and Carmella climb to the apron and Morgan knocks them both to the floor.

Elimination: Bianca Belair vs Liv Morgan vs Carmella vs Zelina Vega

Belair and Carmella start in the ring. Carmella hits a cross body but Belair rolls through and slams Carmella. Belair picks up Vega and slams her off a gorilla press. Belair bounces off the ropes for a moonsault. Carmella grabs Belair and Vega hits a kick to the head. Carmella and Vega team up to cover Belair for two. Morgan runs in to hit a drop kick to Vega. Carmella grabs Morgan in the corner and uses a head scissors like submission. Carmella gets a roll up on Vega for a two count. Vega and Carmella start to fight before Belair runs in with a lariat to Vega. Belair hits the Kiss of Death to pin and eliminate Vega. Belair rolls Morgan back in the ring and is hit with a cheap shot and thrown to the barricade by Carmella. Carmella rolls in the ring and Morgan plants her with a slam off the ropes. Morgan covers to pin and eliminate Carmella. Morgan and Belair stare off in the ring.

*Commercial break*

The match returns with Morgan having Belair in a chin lock. Belair powers up and breaks the hold. Morgan gets a roll up for two. Mirgan hits a sunset flip cover for two. Belair hits Morgan with a big shoulder tackle. Belair hits a corner spear and Morgan reverses an irish Whip, Belair is hit with a knee strike. Morgan reverses a power bomb with a huricanrana. Morgan avoids a spear with a drop toe hold to the corner. Morgan goes for a stomp in the corner but Belair dodges and hits a spine buster for a cover and Morgan kicks out at two. Belair catches Morgan in the air and tries a vertical suplex but Morgan counters and hits Belair with double knees to the face and covers for two. Belair throws Morgan into the corner. Belair picks Morgan up and hits the the Kiss of death to cover for three.

Winner: Bianca Belair

Paul Heyman is interviewed backstage. Heyman says that he stands where he always stands, right behind his tribal chief, Roman Reigns. Heyman says he needs to help the champion prepare, Heyman goes to open Reigns’ locker room door but it is locked.

*Commercial break*

SmackDown returns with a recap of Roman Reigns defeating John Cena in the Universal Championship main event of SummerSlam before being confronted after the match by a returning Brock Lesnar. Heyman is shown standing outside Reigns’ locker room. The Usos open the door to meet Heyman. The Usos tell Heyman Reigns isn’t there and ask Heyman if he knew if Lesnar would be at SummerSlam. Heyman insists he did not know and that he swears he did not know. The Usos asked why Heyman sent them back to the locker room. Heyman says that it was Reigns who sent them back. The Usos again question Heyman as they walk back into the locker room.

Chad Gable vs Cesaro

Cesaro immediately hits an uppercut. Cesaro hits more uppercuts in the corner before going for the swing. Gable rolls out and locks in an armbar. Cesaro hits an uppercut, Gable hits a chop and hits a northern lights suplex into a cover for tow. Gable goes up top and hits a moonsault. Gable locks in an armbar over the ropes. Cesaro hits an uppercut and a huricanrana off the top to Gable. Cesaro starts to swing Gable before Otis runs in to break it up and cause the DQ

Winner by Disqualification: Cesaro

After the bell, Otis and Gable double team to take out Cesaro. Otis goes to the middle rope and Otis hits a splash to Cesaro.

Kayla Braxton stands in the parking lot to try to get an interview with Roman Reigns. Baron Corbin shows up in a fancy car and is wearing a nice suit and hat. Corbin says luck has finally been on his side and that he’s filthy rich and happy.

*Commercial break*

Back live with Baron Corbin coming out with brand new entrance music and is introduced as “Happy Corbin”. Corbin gets on the mic and says he was going to file for bankruptcy and that he thought he hit rock bottom. Corbin says the best part is he did it all himself, and he is the happiest man in the world. A video package airs showing how Corbin was down to just $35 left. Corbin is shown in the casinos in Las Vegas where he begins to win money. Corbin says he deserves all of this and runs down how expensive his outfit is. Corbin says his wife welcomed him home as the crowd chants “you deserve it” Corbin says there’s only one thing that can make him happier and Corbin calls out Big E. Big E’s music hits and he makes his way out to the ring. Corbin says he appreciates Big E coming out. Big E says he’s just glad Corbin doesn’t smell anymore. Corbin says he wants to make things square with Big E and Corbin says he wants to buy the Money in the Bank briefcase. Corbin offers $20,000 and Big E denies it. Corbin then offers $50,000 and Big E again says no. Big E references how Corbin lost when he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract. Corbin then offers $100,000 for the briefcase, and Big E says his answer is no. Big E says he has other things Corbin can spend that money on and pulls out an Arkansas Razorback plush for a huge pop from the local crowd. Corbin says he is too rich and too happy for this. Corbin says Big E will cash in and lose and regret not taking his offer. Corbin leaves the ring after Big E threatens him.

Edge is shown backstage where he says SummerSlam was satisfying for him. Edge says he had to go to a dark place to be able to defeat Rollins, and that affected him. Edge says the chapter with Seth Rollins is over, and that he is moving on to the Universal Championship.

Seth Rollins is then shown backstage. Rollins says he’s only got one thing to say to Edge, Rollins smiles to the camera and says congratulations. Rollins says he’s had a week to reflect. Rollins calls it one of Edge’s greatest victories and Rollins says he gained respect for Edge. Rollins says if he wants to fight his way back to the Universal Championship, maybe he needs to be more like Edge.

Rick Boogs appears on stage playing his guitar. Boogs introduces Intercontinental Champion King Nakamura.

*Commercial break*

Roman Reigns is shown walking backstage. Reigns approaches Heyman at his locker room and asks Heyman what he’s doing. Heyman apologizes and opens Reigns’ door. Reigns turns and asks if Heyman is coming in with him and Heyman nervously enters.

King Nakamura & Rick Boogs vs Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode

Boogs and Ziggler start the match. Boogs hits Ziggler with a gut wrench slam. Ziggler hits an elbow and tags in Roode. Roode hits a neck breaker and covers for two. Apollo Crews is shown on screen and he calls Nakamura an embarrassment of a champion. Ziggler and Roode hit a double suplex and Roode covers for two. Boogs crawls to the corner and makes the tag to Nakamura. Nakamura hits a running srop kick. Ziggler runs in and Nakamura hits him with a slam. Nakamura slides through the ropes and hits a German suplex off the ropes. Roode avoids the Kinshasa and gets a roll up for two. Nakamura rolls to the outside and Ziggler hits a Zig Zag.

*Commercial break*

Back live with Nakamura hit with a corner splash and a running knee from Ziggler who covers for two. Roode is tagged in and hits a vertical suplex. Nakamura hits a spinning kick to Roode and Boogs and Ziggler are tagged in. Boogs hits a cork screw elbow and corner splash into a running bulldog for a cover and a two count. Boogs is hit with a super kick from Ziggler off a distraction and Nakamura runs in to break up the cover. Boogs avoids the famousser and hits the pump handle slam and covers for three.

Winners: King Nakamura & Rick Boogs

Sonya Deville is met backstage by a returning Naomi. Naomi asks Deville what her first match is. Deville says he had no idea Naomi would even be there and doesn’t know if Naomi even measures up on the SmackDown roster. Deville says she’ll think about it and get back to Naomi next week.

Rey and Dominik Mysterio are talking backstage. Rey says he thinks he needs to step back and let Dominik fly on his own. Rey says he talked to Adam Pearce and got Dominik booked in a match tonight.

*Commercial break*

Dominik Mysterio vs Sami Zayn

The match begins with a lock up. Zayn backs Mysterio into the corner. Another lock up and Zayn again backs Mysterio into the corner but hits a series of punches this time. Dominik hits a slam and Zayn crawls away to the corner. Zayn hits a kick to the stomach and Dominik hits a n elbow in the corner. Dominik hits an arm drag off the ropes and a drop kick after. Dominik puts Zayn in position but Zayn pulls the ropes on the 619 attempt to send Dominik crashing to the outside. Rey Mysterio makes his way out to check on Dominik.

*Commercial break*

The match returns with Zayn choking Dominik using the ropes. Zayn taunts Rey on the outside. Zayn gets back in the ring and Dominik surprises with a roll up for a two count. Zayn hits multiple elbows to Dominik’s head. Dominik avoids a slam and hits elbows of his own. Dominik hits an enzigri and hits the 619. Dominik goes up top but Zayn counters and sets up and lands the Helluva kick and Zayn covers for three.

Winner: Sami Zayn

After the bell Zayn stands over Dominik and begins to dance. Rey gets in the ring to talk to his son but Dominik pushes Rey away and rolls out of the ring himself walking away from Rey.

Reigns and the Usos are backstage with Heyman. Reigns’ music hits and Heyman hands the title belt to Reigns saying it’s a family celebration. Reigns looks at Heyman and says that Heyman is family.

The Bloodline make their way out to the ring with all of the title belts held high.

*Commercial break*

SmackDown returns live with The Bloodline in the ring. Reigns hands the mic to Heyman and Heyman introduces Reigns and then The Usos. Reigns whispers something to Heyman and Heyman says we have seen enough of John Cena as he was beaten by Reigns. Finn Balor makes his way out to the surprise of Reigns. Balor says Reigns knows he was screwed out of his title match. Balor says that now Edge and Lesnar are talking about the Universal Championship. Balor says he was going to challenge Reigns to a match at Extreme Rules, but he says he doesn’t trust anyone or wait in line, so he’s challenging Reigns to a title match next week. Balor drops the mic and attacks Reigns. As The Usos beat down Balor, The Street Profits run out to take out The Usos along with Balor. Reigns walks out of the ring and walks away. Balor goes up top and hits a Coup de Grace and stars down Reigns as SmackDown goes off the air.
