CM Punk made his return to pro wrestling at AEW Rampage The First Dance and the crowd in attendance simply couldn’t contain themselves. After entertaining the audience with his promo, he even gave fans ice cream bars.

Ringside News was able to first exclusively report that CM Punk signed contract with AEW on July 23rd and the deal was said to have come together in a hurry. It was also exclusively reported that CM Punk agreed to work 10 to 12 dates per year for AEW.

Due to a seven-year-long hiatus from pro wrestling, many fans wondered what ultimately made CM Punk decide to sign a contract with AEW in the first place.

While speaking during media scrum after the conclusion of AEW Rampage: The First dance, CM Punk was asked what ultimately made him decide to go to AEW. CM Punk revealed that after Brodie Lee got sick and passed away it was a shock to many, as those who were aware of it didn’t speak about it.

CM Punk respected that and felt that in any other promotion word would have gotten out.

“You know this goes back to one of the appealing things about AEW for me. It’s a bit of a bummer of a topic. Brodie Lee passes away, right? Come to find out, he was sick, but nobody knew. Nobody said anything to anybody because it’s nobody’s business. Lot of respect for everybody back here.

“Brodie, love Brodie. So, seeing that, there’s something about that, ya know? If that were anywhere else, it would be all over the internet. His poor wife would be having to deal with that. On top of already dealing with this tragic event.”

CM Punk will do more than simply wrestle in AEW and fans couldn’t be happier to see The Second City Saint back on their television sets. We will have to wait and see how he will be booked from now on.
