Andrade El Idolo had one of the biggest matches of his career as he challenged Kenny Omega for the AAA Mega Championship at TripleMania XXIX.  It even featured a surprise appearance from Ric Flair, who accompanied Andrade El Idolo to the ring. This came very short time after The Nature Boy’s requested WWE release.

Ric Flair also interfered in the match in a huge way but despite all his help, Kenny Omega came out on top and successfully retained his title. Kenny Omega then put Andrade on blast for bringing Ric Flair to the event.

Ric Flair took to Twitter and commented on his appearance at TripleMania XXIX as he stated that being great is a family tradition.

Being Great Is A Family Tradition! @AndradeElIdolo Diamonds Are Forever! Diamantes Por Siempre! WOOOOO!

Andrade El Idolo then saw Ric Flair’s tweet and decided to reply to it, as Andrade stated that he could not have ever imagined he would have the honor of having Ric Flair in his corner.

Thank you Mr. @RicFlairNatrBoy for accepting to be in my corner. Not in my wildest dreams could I have ever imagined I would have the honor of putting the figure-4 on by your side….. on top of that in MEXICO @luchalibreaaa les gusto

Thank you Sir @RicFlairNatrBoy it was a honor to have you not only in my corner but in my home country. I am very grateful. I owe you!! I promise to take care of your pride & joy

AEW had also nixed Kenny Omega dropping the title to Andrade El Idolo as it is likely the two will square off against each other in the future again. We will have to wait and see when the two will duke it out again.

Chavo Guerrero Jr. is currently paired up with Andrade in AEW, but with report out that Ric Flair to AEW is a lock, we have to wonder if a change will be made pronto.
