WWE ran into some issues with their contracts recently, especially with two top Superstars. Adam Cole’s deal expired in July, but he agreed to stick around for another month through TakeOver: 36 on August 22nd. He isn’t the only Superstar with an interesting contract situation as Pete Dunne’s deal is also drawing to a close.

We previously reported that Vince McMahon and Adam Cole met prior to SmackDown where they had serious meeting. WWE main roster writers have also been instructed to come up with stories for Cole on RAW and SmackDown. No such orders have been given for Pete Dunne. right now.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Pete Dunne’s WWE NXT contract is up at the end of August. It wasn’t noted exactly when the expiration was prior to this as it was only known that Dunne is in a similar contract situation to Cole.

Pete Dunne’s deal is also coming due on either 8/31 or 9/1. He’s another super worker who has been in the system for years and should have been a main roster star, even if he started as part of a tag team, long ago.

We’ll have to see what happens next in this situation, because Pete Dunne could go to do a lot of damage to NXT if he worked for their competition, regardless of what Vince McMahon considers the company’s competition.
