Malakai Black defeated Cody Rhodes in definitive fashion this week on AEW Dynamite. That was a big win for the former Aleister Black. Then Cody stuck around the ring, because he had something to say.

Cody Rhodes thanked the fans at Daily’s Place for making his life “incredibly special.” He mentioned his journey to AEW including how he “fired” WWE and “they didn’t fire me.” He spoke about outside opportunities and in-fighting against the EVPs in AEW while admitting that he will “forever be tethered to them.”

The American Nightmare also said Daily’s Place should be called the AEW Amphitheater, and then he started to take off his boots in the middle of the ring. It seemed that Rhodes was going to retire in the middle of the ring at Daily’s Place.

Just as Cody was about to take off his boots, Malakai Black smashed a crutch over his back. AEW Dynamite ended this week with Cody Rhodes laying in the middle of the ring, seemingly in the middle of a retirement speech.
