WWE is all about saving money right now as they continue chipping away at the company’s bottom line. They usually have indie wrestlers around to play the role of extras when they need them, but those parts are now much harder to come by.

According to a report from PW Insider, WWE has called “a number of independent talents” who were booked as extras and cancelled them. It was said that they are reducing the number of extras backstage at television.

WWE has reached out to a number of independent talents booked for extra work in the weeks to come and unbooked them, telling them the company has reduced the planned number of outside talents they will be utilizing for TV work.

It was noted that “in some cases” they will only be booking two extras per episode. That doesn’t give them the number of people they used to have available and it could also go to limit some of their creative ideas.

The company is getting back on the road and it was noted that this cost-cutting measure could be a part of the company feeling out that process. We will have to see how this might change things as time goes on.

What’s your take on WWE reducing the number of extras they are using every week? Sound off in the comments!
