Daniel Bryan’s WWE contract expired and he is a free agent now. He is likely enjoying this vacation at home while weighing his options. In the meantime, WWE has given indication that they are not expecting his return.

During Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez revealed that different divisions with ongoing projects, video games, promotional materials, etc., were told that they needed to remove several recently released Superstars from whatever they are doing. Daniel Bryan’s name was among those names of Superstars that WWE doesn’t want used in their ongoing projects.

“I’m not sure if it’s a video game or what it is, but one of these projects that involves, obviously the wrestlers in WWE, they were alerted today that this person, this person, this person, this person is no longer with WWE and one of the people they mentioned was Daniel Bryan. Realistically he’s not with the company. That is also an indication that at this point, take him out of whatever project, because he’s out of the company.”

If WWE is making plans for a big surprise Daniel Bryan return, then the promotions department and other divisions wouldn’t know about it. At this point WWE is letting different projects know that Daniel Bryan needs to hit the cutting room floor. We’ll have to see what he decides to do next, because the ball is 100% in his court.
