Bayley was set to take on Bianca Belair at Money in the Bank, but a knee injury took the former SmackDown Women’s Champion out of action. A replacement needed to be made, and Sonya Deville showed up on SmackDown to take care of business.

Bayley, who blamed fans for her injury in great video promo, did not go to the ring as Sonya Deville came out to make the big announcement. After wishing Bayley a speedy recovery, Deville addressed the issue and she revealed that Bianca Belair will simply not be defending her SmackDown Women’s Championship at Money in the Bank. She will defend her title next week when fans return to SmackDown.

Sonya Deville then introduced Bianca Belair’s new opponent for next week, not Money in the Bank. Carmella then made her way down to the ring and she was very happy about this news.

Liv Morgan came out next and she was not happy at all. Then Sonya Deville revealed that Morgan is taking Carmella’s spot in the Money in the Bank match. Morgan said that she hopes Carmella wins next week so she can cash in the Money in the Bank contract on her.
