WWE’s NXT UK brand just saw a shocking moment. Kay Lee Ray held the NXT UK Women’s Title for 649, through the pandemic. Now she is no longer the NXT UK Women’s Champion after a hard-fought match against Meiko Satomura.

Kay Lee Rae won the NXT UK Women’s Title from Toni Storm at NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool on January 12, 2019. This was a surprising loss for Kay Lee Ray, but it also came at a very interesting time.

WWE is scouting for new talent and NXT UK is not off the table. The UK brand of NXT was explicitly mentioned as being in play for call-ups in the future. We will have to see if this means that Kay Lee Ray is on her way up to RAW or SmackDown.

Meiko Satomura is a veteran, and she recently joined WWE to work on the NXT UK brand. She is a wrestler and a coach for the brand. This is an interesting situation as WWE seemingly prepares to send some fresh faces to the main roster.
