Pro wrestling legend Sting shocked the world when he made his debut in AEW last year in December. Since then he has been featured heavily on AEW television being paired up with Darby Allin.

Sting’s first match in AEW featured him teaming up with Darby Allin and facing off against Ricky Stars and Brian Cage at AEW Revolution in a cinematic street fight match. Their second match together saw them squaring off against Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page at AEW Double Or Nothing.

They have been victorious in both matches and the two have certainly had a fruitful partnership. While the relationship has been dubbed as more of a student and mentor relationship, it seems there is more to it than that.

While speaking to the Wrestling Perspective Podcast, Darby Allin talked about his relationship with Sting outside the squared circle. The former TNT champion said that the two have a close bond in real life and find time to hang out and mess around.

“We’re just messing around and like, man, we have a real tight, real tight schedule. Like how we’re supposed to film today, we’re gonna do that, we’re gonna paint our faces in the car. And then he was just like, just his reaction, everything is hilarious. So he is down for whatever. And we’re like, I’m just trying to paint my face in the little window and he’s like ‘dude I’m not gonna paint my face in this car first, then I’ll paint my face in a mirror and I was like alright.’ He says ‘you like to like show up the airport with your face painted, I don’t like to do that stuff,’ just like he’s just funny guy.”

It seems Sting and Darby Allin aren’t done with Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky just yet as Page and Sky are hell-bent on beating them on way or the other. We will have to see how their feud will continue to be booked.
