WWE is the goal destination for many pro wrestlers, but the world doesn’t end if the company lets someone go. That is apparently what WWE NXT tells their trainees.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed WWE’s recent releases and how Vince McMahon is the man calling those shots. He also revealed something very interesting that WWE Performance Center trainees are apparently told about what awaits them outside of the company’s walls.

“They teach you when you’re there — I think a lot of fans don’t know this — when you’re there they teach you that your life ends if you leave. A lot of guys have left, especially the ones in AEW have gone, ‘My life didn’t end and I left.’ A lot of other guys are like, ‘you know it’s like I’m not broke, there’s places to go, and indie stuff and things like that.’ There’s a fear and that’s why a lot of people don’t go because, and you know especially women.”

Meltzer then noted that the “funny part” is that there are even more opportunities for women on the indie wrestling scene right now. The pro wrestling world is opening back up and that demand for pro wrestling is creating a lot of chances for work.

We’ll have to see what WWE decides to do next when it comes to their continuing budget cuts. If they decide to cut more wrestlers it’s not the end of the road for any of them because the pro wrestling landscape has more than enough chances to succeed and prove yourself outside of WWE.

What’s your favorite indie wrestling company? Sound off in the comments!
