Kofi Kingston collided with ‘The Scottish Warrior’ Drew McIntyre in a number one contender’s match for the WWE Championship on the latest episode of RAW. The show also saw the commentary debut of Jimmy Smith, who took over as the lead play-by-play announcer after Adnan Virk parted ways with WWE.

During the match, Drew McIntyre and Kofi Kingston did a spot on the outside of the ring which left Kingston screaming in agony. According to Jimmy Smith, the former WWE Champion was immediately checked on by the WWE crew during the commercial break.

During his recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, Jimmy Smith recalled the incident:

And when Kofi Kingston against Drew McIntyre went over that wall, he literally did catch his leg on the wall and started screaming, and we all went, ‘Oh crap,’ you know?” said Jimmy Smith. “They rushed back there to help him get [up] in time for the commercial and he got up, was like, ‘Dude I’m good, let’s go.’ Insane. Insane watching it live.

Thankfully, Kofi Kingston didn’t suffer any serious injuries and was able to finish the bout. He did, however, lose the match to Drew McIntyre, earning the latter a championship opportunity against Bobby Lashley at Hell in a Cell. Jimmy Smith, on the other hand, received praise from fans and WWE personnel for his excellent commentary.
