WWE will hold SummerSlam on Saturday, August 21st, 2021. Lots of fans are wondering why WWE made this decision. It seems that this was a choice that they made prior to really locking down a location.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer tried to explain why WWE landed on August 21st this year instead of Sunday the 22nd. He explained that Allegiant Stadium requested that Saturday date, but now WWE might have to move the event’s location while keeping the Saturday event.

“So this is the deal, the reason it’s a Saturday is because the stadium in Vegas wanted a Saturday. However, it may not be in Vegas, but they already have the date. The date’s a bad date because it’s the same as Manny Pacquiao and Errol Spence.”

WWE will not be the hottest ticket in town in Las Vegas on August 21st. They have already agreed to that date, so even if they decide to take SummerSlam to another location the date will remain. They obviously have other things booked for SummerSlam that cannot be worked around.

It is rumored that John Cena will make return on that night to face Roman Reigns. Cardi B’s schedule also needs to get worked out well in advance. We will have to see if they stick with Las Vegas as the location, but that Saturday date was a request they can’t change now.
