Dream’s behavioral issues came out in a big way after his release. There were many occasions where he disappeared from television after a big push. His attitude and other issues was a constant problem for him.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Velveteen Dream was not fired over any allegations about him. He was terminated following an incident with a “top star” in the company. Management was then alerted to the situation and action was taken.
We were told the firing didn’t have to do with those charges or anything that had been made public, but for a different incident that one of the top stars in the company alerted management to.
Velveteen Dream blamed the allegations against him as the reason why WWE released him. he also picked those allegations apart with a public address on the matter. He might have lost his push last April due to those allegations, but his firing was due to a more recent incident.
Following his release, Cathy Kelly, who was romantically linked to Dream at one point, also tweeted out to deny that she ever had communication with him outside of work.
Dream hadn’t performed on NXT since December, 2020 where he lost to Adam Cole during the Very Gargano Christmas special.
We will have to see what’s next for Velveteen Dream. He still has a ton of ability, but extracurricular incidents and other backstage issues caused a real stumbling block for his WWE career. Now he is Patrick Clark once again as the Velveteen Dream is over.
