Update: Some WWE NXT Superstars were afraid of complaining about Velveteen Dream due to his friendship with management.

Original: Velveteen Dream’s time in WWE is over as he was released this week. There is lot to unpack in this situation as we continue to figure out what really happened. The allegations against Dream have been widely covered. We invite you to click here for a full timeline of those events. The fact is that Velveteen Dream likely wasn’t released due to anything brought up during the #SpeakingOut movement.

During Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez addressed Velveteen Dream’s WWE NXT firing. He said that it was not due to any allegations against him. If WWE believed those to be true, then he would have been fired years ago.

His release had more to do with behavioral issues, and there were plenty of examples. He apparently also acted up when representing the company at an EVOLVE event.

“For whatever reason, WWE clearly believes that he didn’t do anything, so that’s it. So, why was he fired? Like I said, I don’t know, but I do know this that there were a lot of problems with Velveteen Dream didn’t have anything to do with any accusations.”

“There were behavioral problems with Velveteen Dream, and Triple H, he didn’t go into a lot of detail, but when Velveteen Dream was off television Triple H said it was the result of a car accident. Was it the car accident? I don’t know, but I do know is that if you follow the career, the on-screen career of Velveteen Dream — how many times was Velveteen Dream featured and he just vanished for an extended period of time? It happened all the time.”

“The impression I’ve been given is the reason he regularly vanished for extended periods of time was due to outside of the ring issues, whatever those might be. At some point, what can you do with the guy?”

WWE apparently didn’t believe the accusations against Velveteen Dream that he sent inappropriate messages to minors, but he had other issues to deal with. We might get more clarification as time goes on. A shoot interview could be in the future for someone, spilling all of Velveteen Dream’s tea.

On another note, Cathy Kelley, who was rumored to have dated Dream, also publicly distanced herself from him. You can click here for that piece of information.
