WWE’s SummerSlam event is reportedly set for Las Vegas on August 22nd, but that has not been officially announced by the company. It seems that is about to change.

Manny Pacquiao’s next big fight will take place in Las Vegas on August 21st. That means that WWE is no longer the biggest event in town that weekend. Pacquiao vs Spence Jr. is a much bigger attraction

Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Pro Wrestling podcast, who has nailed several recent stories, tweeted out a very interesting note. He said that SummerSlam WON’T be happening on the date everyone is thinking.

SummerSlam won’t be on a day you think it will be on.

We will have to see what happens in this situation. Arranging a pay-per-view event is a complicated endeavor and WWE wants to get it right as they bring fans back to the biggest party of the summer.

It is interesting that Zarian noted SummerSlam won’t be happening “when” we think and not “where.” That could mean that WWE will keep Las Vegas as their location, but move the date as to not conflict with Manny Pacquiao’s return to boxing.
