WWE held a very special episode of SmackDown this week, and fans seemed to like the Throwback theme. They also really enjoyed seeing that SmackDown fist once again, even if it was computer generated and the real thing remained in the Warehouse hundreds of miles away.

Ringside News was told that the Throwback edition of SmackDown was “very smooth” this week, and “that’s with a limited staff.” They were missing some key people backstage this week.

Bruce Prichard was on vacation and Ed Koskey was “handling something else.” We were also told that “two other writers were not on hand.” They also brought Dave Kapoor up from NXT to help produce the show.

This is not the first time in recent memory that WWE was shorthanded backstage. It was not noted to us whether any Superstars were unavailable as they seemed to have a full roster last night.

WWE was able to figure things out and make SmackDown work. Many fans seemed to really enjoy this week’s presentation so we’ll have to see how different things are next week when Bruce Prichard returns from vacation.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
