16-time World Champion John Cena is undoubtedly one of the most popular pro wrestlers to have ever competed inside the squared circle. He was the face of WWE for over ten years and defined the PG era of the company. He is now a part-timer due to his busy career in Hollywood.

For most of his career, Cena was a highly divisive Superstar as he had both huge fans and haters as well. “Cena Sucks” chants were very common when he used to compete.

While speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross talked about a section of fans who didn’t like John Cena at all. Ross said that he never understood why they didn’t like John Cena and wasn’t sure if it was because Cena was overexposed or if it was due to fans liking someone else.

However, Ross added that the fans had every right to voice their opinion as they paid money to attend the shows.

“For those that just didn’t like John, I never understood why they didn’t like John. It could be, ‘Well, he is overexposed.” I don’t know. Maybe there was somebody else was their choice on the roster that they would have rather have had in that top spot. It was always confounding to me that people would have that mindset. So, bottom line, I didn’t like it. I thought it was disruptive. But, again, fans buy their ticket. They pay their money. They drive from home. They take a seat. Here they are. They ought to be able to have freedom of expression and enjoy themselves.”

It is also to be noted that even John Cena’s biggest naysayers have warmed up to him over the years. Cena hasn’t been seen since WrestleMania 36 in the Firefly Funhouse match against Bray Wyatt. We will have to see when Cena will be making his return to the company.
