Pro wrestling history is full of big days, and today is a very special one for Steve Corino.

On April 24th, 2001, Steve Corino became NWA World Heavyweight Champion. He held the title for 186 days after defeating Mike Rapada for the title in Nashville, Tennessee. Today is a huge day for Corino as he celebrates the 20-year anniversary of that big win.

When I was 8, I discovered wrestling & the first title I saw was Ric Flair holding the NWA World’s championship. It was my dream. 20 yrs ago today, I achieved that dream. Yes, I’m wearing THE DREAM’s robe & hat. Moral of the story is dreams can come true. Keep fighting for them.

Steve Corino is with WWE now in a backstage capacity. His days in the ring are over, but he will obviously never forget the amazing legacy he carved out for himself, especially that run with the historic NWA World Heavyweight Title.
