During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained that Michael Cole wasn’t supposed to work the entire WrestleMania event, but he did. Tom Phillips was apparently slated to work the show, but now he might not be back.

“Michael Cole did the entire show because Tom Phillips, who apparently may not be back, I don’t know what the story is. I was trying to check all day, but people were busy with matches so I didn’t really get an answer. People I talked with had no idea there was going to be a change. Tom Phillips apparently there was a COVID protocol thing tonight and Monday Adnan Virk starts on RAW.”

This is an interesting situation and we will have an update as soon as one is made available. Tom Phillips has been with WWE since 2012 and he’s been on the RAW commentary team since January 26th, 2020. He also pulled double-duty as commentator for NXT UK for a while. Now he might not be back.
