WWE planned for Roman Reigns to take on Edge at WrestleMania, but those plans are about to change. It might even change as soon as tonight’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown. Daniel Bryan is going to be added to that match to make it a triple threat.

It was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Vince McMahon made this change to the WrestleMania main event pretty late in the game. The reason why could stem from the simple fact that Edge is 47 years old. In the end, Vince just wanted to change things around.

One person close to the situation said that the age issue, not as much the number as the look of age (“he was looking older each week”) with Edge was a concerning point. But really, it was said it was just McMahon wanting to shake up the plans.

Edge vs Daniel Bryan vs Roman Reigns will also mark the first time that two WWE writers were in the main event of WrestleMania. We’ll have to see how this match turns out, but the concept seems to be very similar to the build toward WrestleMania XXX’s “Yestlemania” storyline.
