Christian Cage is now with AEW. The company hyped his signing in a huge way, but that might have been a mistake. While fans were tossing around names like Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar, AEW was preparing for Christian Cage’s debut.

Cage already explained how fast his AEW deal came together. You can check that out here. Christian is not in the WWE Hall of Fame despite so many fans believing that he deserves such an honor. Tony Khan apparently agrees as well.

While speaking to Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette, Christian revealed that he had no idea AEW was going to make such a big deal about his “hall of fame worthy” signing. He thought that the plan was to show up at Revolution and sign a contract.

“I didn’t know. As far as I knew at that point in time, it was going to be a complete secret. I was just going to show up and it was going to be a surprise, I didn’t realize it was going to be [the huge announcement]. I’m being 100% honest, on Wednesday, there was nothing signed. It was a shock to me when I heard it. and obviously, Tony and I hit it off pretty quick and we felt comfortable enough that we definitely going to get something done and work together.”

Tony Khan said that Christian was one of this favorite wrestlers. He also praised Christian’s ability and teased that he will wrestle for AEW on regular basis. Christian Cage didn’t do anything at Revolution except sign a contract and leave, but this week’s Dynamite might be a different story as he gets things going in his new pro wrestling home.
