Impact Wrestling has featured humorous promos with Tony Khan and Tony Schiavone since the company’s partnership with AEW started. This came about after the deal was struck, but it was also a welcomed addition to the plans.

Tony Khan recently spoke to Renee Paquette on Oral Sessions where he revealed how those “paid advertisements came about.” He gave 100% credit to Kenny Omega for initiating that partnership, but the paid advertisements idea was his own.

“I went with Kenny Omega and while I was there, Schiavone said he would come hang out. I had this idea to buy advertising on Impact and do promos. It’s great. It promotes our show and keeps that story with Impact going. When we first did it, I did not know people would enjoy them as much as they have, and I didn’t plan to keep doing them for as long as we had. They got a great reaction.”

Those paid advertisements have been a fan favorite since they started. AEW is able to take some shots at Impact Wrestling while Tony and Tony play off heel characters.

We’ll have to see how long AEW and Impact Wrestling’s partnership lasts, but we can only hope those paid advertisements don’t go away until they are finished.
