Randy Orton’s entry in the 2021 Royal Rumble match was made on January 8th, but he already has a huge match slated for the pay-per-view. There is a reason why WWE put him in the Royal Rumble match.

Ringside News exclusively reported that Bray Wyatt vs Randy Orton is still slated for a big gimmick match on the January 31st pay-per-view event. Those plans are still on.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Orton’s Royal Rumble entry was a “red herring.” He is still locked into a match against The Fiend. Now we will have to see how they continue building that match.

Orton vs. Fiend in a gimmick match was the only other match we’ve heard as going to happen. Orton [in the Royal Rumble match] “was a Red Herring when it was announced but obviously everything is open to change”

Randy Orton had a fireball shot in his face by Alexa Bliss this week on RAW. That was an angle which drew considerable attention online, racking up over 3 million views in a matter or days. WWE has plans to continue Wyatt and Orton’s storyline, and the Royal Rumble is still set to be the site of a big collision.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
