Jon Moxley is the current IWGP United States Champion. He appeared during Wrestle Kingdom 15 in a taped segment, but he was not in the Tokyo Dome. He intends on wrestling for NJPW again, but the pandemic has kept that from happening.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the current situation with Jon Moxley in NJPW. As IWGP United States Champion, Moxley has a target on him, but he has been unable to defend his title. That could change soon enough.

“It looks like because Moxley did a promo from the New Japan dojo that they’ll probably do something with Moxley and KENTA. That’s, you know, sooner than later because he did the promo. So, I’m going to guess that it’ll happen in a couple of months, if not sooner.”

It was also noted that “it looks like Tony Khan has given him the okay because there would be no promo if he didn’t.”

NJPW pretaped a ton of content for New Japan Strong. They also were not happy about the news getting out that they were taping their episodes. Jon Moxley was previously unable to work for NJPW while in the United States due to his AEW contract. Perhaps they have been able to work around issue considering the unique circumstances.
