WWE is always on the search to lock down any name that they can use. This recently caused the company to copyright The Collective, the same name that Game Changer Wrestling has already used for their events.

It was previously reported that GCW said that there would be no issues with WWE trying to take The Collective trademark. Now recently a uncovered filing indicates that GCW filed a trademark for “The Collective” on December 21st, not one week after WWE’s December 15th trademark filing.

GCW went through trademark attorney Michael Dockins, the same man who has helped many AEW stars lock down their names. He also commented on this situation and said that there is no need to worry.

The trademark included wording for “Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer.” This seems very specific that they seek to lock down The Collective name for pro wrestling events. This is a name they have used in the past. They first used The Collective name in September 2018, but WWE just filed their trademark.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
