New Day Almost Became ‘People’s Liberation Of American Nationalism’ In WWE

The New Day were just split up on WWE television nearly six years as a stable. They almost had a very different name and mission in FCW prior to making their entrance on the WWE main roster. Kofi Kingston wasn’t even a part of that plan as Byron Saxton was in his place.

During The New Day: Feel The Power, Big E explained that prior to Kofi Kingston entering the group, they had another trio in FCW, but Byron Saxton was involved. The People’s Liberation of American Nationalism was the idea for this stable that never saw the light of day.

“The plan was a faction of me, Bryon Saxton, and Woods when we were in FCW. We got to do it in promo practice. We were excited about it but it never saw the light of day on any shows. That was in 2014 which is what sparked the idea for the New Day. Honestly, if we had not done that when we were in FCW, who knows where my career would be or where Woods would be. Kofi would still be fine I’m sure.”

Xavier Woods explained that the plan for their stable was the “People’s Liberation of American Nationalism.” Everything seemed to be thought-out, but the plan never came together on FCW television.

“The plan was the People’s Liberation of American Nationalism. It was a situation where we all tried to stay in one lane. I was the smallest guy in the group so I was the extreme hothead because I would be the one yelling. E was the muscle. Saxton was the calm and collected one.”

Big E is now on his own on SmackDown, and he’s now the most likely winner of the 2021 Royal Rumble match. That is a very interesting place for him to be in. We’ll have to see what the future holds, but it’s doubtful that WWE will circle back to the People’s Liberation of American Nationalism.
