Randy Orton never considered himself as promo guy. He did his talking in the ring. Things really seemed to shift for him recently, especially during his program with Edge.

While speaking to Inside The Ropes, Randy Orton spoke about his WWE promos. He came into his own and is able to express himself freely. Most WWE Superstars are tightly scripted, but The Viper revealed Vince McMahon is “very lenient” about what he says on the microphone.

“I’m not scripted at all, really,” Randy Orton said. He can now go ahead and speak his mind to tell those stories in the ring from his own unique perspective.

Orton also admitted that there was a promo earlier this year and he went about seven minutes over. The Viper said that normally Vince McMahon would “slap the sh*t” out of him for doing that, but he didn’t at all.

Many fans wish that WWE would move away from the incredibly scripted environment that they have created. This is needed now, more than ever due to increased production. It seems that Randy Orton gained Vince McMahon’s trust enough that he doesn’t have to worry about sticking to the script.
