Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley returned at Slammiversary and then in the following episode of Impact Wrestling, defeated The North to become the NEW Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions.

At Emergence, The Motor City Machine Guns will defend their titles against The North in rematch from Slammiversary.

While speaking with Fightful, Chris Sabin talked about his return to the company and the status of his current deal with IMPACT. Sabin said that he’s always felt like Impact was his home since that is where he earned his fame in wrestling.

I think just being familiar with IMPACT! Wrestling and the fans. I took a little bit of a break there, but even though while I was gone, it always kinda felt like IMPACT! was home for me. That’s where I pretty much built my entire wrestling reputation. Along with some outside stuff as well, but IMPACT! was always my home. So, it just felt like I was returning home, you know.

Sabin then talked about facing The North and ending their historic title reign. He said that he’s known The North member Ethan Page for sometime, having worked for his indie promotion in the past.

This is why there was a lot of excitement and respect involved in their match-up against the former Tag Team Champions.

I think it was a feeling of excitement and respect, you know? I’ve known Ethan for quite a while. Actually, I worked for his independent promotion, Alpha-1. I’ve worked for him before in the past, and I’ve known him a little bit here and there from other places. It was excitement and respect. I respected him and I think, although we have some scuffling going on right now, we may not be the biggest fans of each other right now because of our little feud going on, but I think there’s definitely a high level of respect there.

The former TNA World Champion then went on to address the details of his current deal with Impact Wrestling. He said that he’s currently signed to them and works simultaneously as a wrestler and a backstage producer in the company.

Yeah, I am signed with them right now. I do have like a producer kind of thing and a wrestling kind of thing going on. So, I can do both and I have done both. There have been days where I only wrestled, but then there’s been a day where I wrestle and produce. So, I’m keeping pretty busy with them.

Sabin and Shelley have always been a fan-favourite tag-team and one of the most popular acts in Impact’s history. Their return to the company has helped generate a lot of buzz for the company in recent weeks.
