Fenix took a bad fall on AEW Dynamite this week. He went for a dive to the floor and didn’t receive much cushion at all. His hip smacked against the thin black mat on the outside of the ring and he was injured.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained that the decision to pull Fenix from the Casino Ladder Match was a late one. They thought that Fenix could work the event, but he was limping too much on Friday so they replaced him.

“On Thursday I was told that he’s in, but then on Friday I guess they decided that he was limping a little too much on Friday. He would have gone, but a lot of times wrestlers have to be saved from themselves. It was one of those situations.”

Joey Janela was called, and he replaced Fenix in the match. Janela is fearless so he made a good replacement in the match. Fenix isn’t expected to be out of action for long, but he was pulled from Double Or Nothing for safety’s sake.
