We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Stardom wrestler Hana Kimura. She was only 22 years old.

Fans became concerned about the young pro wrestler after Kimura posted photos showing apparent signs of self-mutilation. She was receiving a lot of cyber bullying at the time as well.

Hours after these concerning tweets, Stardom confirmed her passing.

Stardom fans, We are very sorry to report that our Hana Kimura has passed away. Please be respectful and allow some time for things to process, and keep your thoughts and prayers with her family and friends. We appreciate your support during this difficult time.

Kimura had her first matches in 2005, but her career really picked up in 2016. She worked all over the Japanese pro wrestling scene. She worked most recently in Stardom.

Hana Kimura was also a part of the women’s tag team match during the opening of NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 14. Arisa Hoshiki and Mayu Iwatani defeated Giulia & Hana Kimura in just over nine minutes, but they made history in the process.

This is a tragic story. Cyber bullying is a very serious issue. The tweets showing self harm were removed. We will not be posting those images.

Our thoughts go out to everyone dealing with this extremely sad situation.
