Jon Moxley is AEW World Champion, but his reign on top of AEW started just before the novel coronavirus changed the entire world’s plans.

While speaking to Wrestle Talk, Jon Moxley revealed what happened in his life on the day COVID-19 really hit America. He was on the way to Dynamite and had a simple day scheduled at work. He was only going to get powerbombed off a stage and through a table. He also had to sit down with Jim Ross and do an interview, but Mox’s short flight turned into a much longer drive.

“I remember we were in Salt Lake City the last time we were in front of people. I went up on Tuesday to film a sit-down interview with JR because I was gonna get taken out for a couple weeks being powerbombed off the stage. So I had a pretty easy job and it would have been a quick 30-minute flight and I’ve been going coast to coast from Philadelphia to Boston and Japan to Memphis to wherever to Atlanta.”

“So I was excited because we were on the West Coast and it was an easy travel for me and everyone else across the country and then my flight got delayed and then it got delayed again and then it got delayed again. I’m like ‘what the hell is going on? It’s just a quick little puddle jumper over to Salt Lake City. Then I realized that all the flights all over the country were screwed up when everything starts hitting. So it was like a zombie apocalypse movie when something starts going wrong.”

Moxley decided at that point that he needed to take a 7 hour drive from Salt Lake City instead of flying. He soon realized that “there is something going on wrong in the world,” but he did say it was a beautiful drive because of the scenery.

Moxley stated that “it was like I won the World Championship and then everything goes to hell.” It was terrible timing, but there is also no good time for a global pandemic to start sweeping civilization.

Jon Moxley said he will “truck forward and carry the torch” during this awful time in world history.
