Vince McMahon had to make some last-minute changes to WrestleMania 36 this year. It was a suitable ending to such a rocky road to WrestleMania.

Roman Reigns made the call not to wrestle Goldberg at WrestleMania 36. Braun Strowman was given his spot and the Monster Among Men eventually won the big title.

Rumors circulated that Vince McMahon was upset about Roman Reigns not working WrestleMania. Ringside News previously reported that if this was the case then nobody was talking about it at the time.

Wrestle Talk confirmed that nobody held any animosity toward Roman Reigns. WWE higher-ups including Vince McMahon understood The Big Dog’s decision to pull himself from WrestleMania due to his history with leukemia and having a weakened immune system.

The decision was then made to place Braun Strowman into the Universal Title match when it was clear that whoever replaced Roman Reigns would be winning the title. Prior to Goldberg voicing no interest in returning to WWE so soon he was booked to retain the Universal Title at WrestleMania after Roman Reigns pulled out of the match.
