Vince McMahon is doing everything he can to keep Superstars in the company. He handed out huge contracts and even upset his former Co-Presidents in the process. This was mostly to stall the growth of All Elite Wrestling, an attempt WWE is still invested in.

During Grilling JR, Jim Ross spoke about WWE’s attempt to stop AEW. He compared it to Vince McMahon trying to keep WCW from growing. The problem is that Vince McMahon is trying to accomplish this while his own product is lacking in a lot of ways.

“Obviously McMahon was very interested in making sure that WCW did not grow. Its akin to what he’s doing now with AEW. Just to do what he can to prevent the growth of the brand. Unfortunately for him, he picked a time where his business is somewhat uninteresting to a lot of people based on the ratings. Timing for him on this one is not real good.”

AEW Dynamite has defeated WWE NXT every week so far in 2020. WWE even seemed to lift an idea that AEW innovated with the empty arena filming. WWE will continue doing what they can to throw stumbling blocks in AEW’s way. In the meantime, both companies are just trying to keep content on the air during the world’s current situation.
