WWE’s 2019 4th quarter earnings call included a lot of interesting numbers. Something Vince McMahon said was very interesting and could hint at a change to the WWE Network.

The company saw a decrease in WWE Network subscriptions. During his speech, Vince McMahon said that “alternative strategic options” could be implemented as soon as the second quarter of this year for the WWE Network.

We’ll have to see what Vince McMahon means by this. WWE Network has historically included all pay-per-views as part of the subscription price at $9.99 a month. A premium tier has been discussed for quite some time as well.

When asked what their options are for the WWE Network, Vince McMahon said that they have a lot of options including selling rights. They have a free tier and they could see a “significant increase in long-term revenue.”

When asked if they could provide a number for the WWE Network’s profit it was said “We don’t provide that information.”

Micro-transactions becoming a part of the WWE Network is also possible. WWE has a lot of options as they figure out “alternative strategic options for the WWE Network,” as Vince McMahon put it. Let’s see what they have in store.

Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
