Why AEW Women’s World Title Match Needed To Change

AEW had a big plan for their January 1st show, but that needed to change. Kris Statlander was scheduled to face Riho for the AEW Women’s World Title. Now Riho has much different match.

So Cal Uncensored reports that Statlander already had a January 1st booking at Bar Wrestling. Instead of making her break the commitment, AEW is allowing her to work that indie date.

Kris Statlander was booked for the Bar Wrestling New Years day show prior to signing with AEW. From what I’m told Bar was completely OK with her missing their show but Kris wanted to keep her word. Says a lot about her as a person. Credit to AEW for putting wrestlers first too.

Statlander just signed with AEW so she could still have more indie dates that need to be fulfilled. All Elite Wrestling has generally been good about letting wrestlers work any indie dates they agreed to before signing.

Kris Statlander will get an AEW Women’s World Title shot on January 8th against whoever the champion might be at that time.
