Austin Aries’ tenure at Impact Wrestling ended very suddenly. He lost the Impact World Title and then he got up and walked out of the arena.

On his way out of the building, Aries gave the middle finger to several Impact execs who happened to be around. This included Don Callis.

While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Austin Aries revealed that it was all part of the show. He says that not only did some people know he was going to let his bird fly and the “F*ck yous” as well, but there were plans for him to return to the company.

“The part where I got up and walked off, and f*cked everyone off and sh*t; I didn’t go into business for myself. There were other people that were aware that was going to happen. There was a plan for me to return. It was my idea, an idea I pitched for a reason and that those people knew of. (It was approved) by the people that needed to approve it and needed to know.”

“I’m not sure. I don’t know if I told him. It didn’t matter for him. I do believe he knew […] I’m pretty sure John knew. I said, ‘Post-match, 1, 2, 3 — 4, 5, 6, I’m gonna get up and I’m gonna f*ck everybody off and walk to the back and you can sit there like ‘What the fuck.” That wasn’t supposed to be ‘end scene.'”

Austin Aries has yet to make a return to Impact Wrestling, but you can never say never in pro wrestling. The company is now in the AXS Era and they might be able to use his talents if they can work something out. He certainly made a lasting impression during his last exit.
