The Inner Circle seems to work fine as it is, but Chris Jericho had a much different idea when they were first putting the stable together.

On Talk Is Jericho, Y2J welcomed Sammy Guevara on the podcast. They were discussing how the Inner Circle came to be and Jericho revealed that he wanted MJF first. AEW management didn’t want that because they had other plans for Friedman, but the Spanish God was a perfect 2nd choice.

“I suggested MJF, but it was like we should keep him on his own, and then your name was mentioned,” he told Guevara. “Perfect, Sammy’s great. Now we need a big guy, who’s it going to be? They wanted to use a boxer they had just signed from the UK and I was like ‘nah he’s not big enough.’ I said ‘Hager’s the guy.’ So we got him. So that’s kinda the whole get together was very much each guy plays a role and has a certain part within the system of the circle.”

It would have been interesting to see MJF in the Inner Circle. They certainly teased fans with The Salt Of The Earth joining Jericho’s band of heels It seems like Wardlow is serving as MJF’s heavy in the meantime apart from the Inner Circle. You can never say never about Jericho and MJF eventually finding their way back to each other.
