We have very sad news to report as the pro wrestling world grieves the loss of Matt Travis. He was only 25 years old.

Travis died in a hit and run. He was riding his bike in Harlem when he was hit by a dump truck. Plenty of people have reacted so far including Curt Hawkins who tweeted out:

My thoughts are with the HOG Wrestling locker room, students, friends & family. Very sad news.

In January, 2019 Travis was interviewed by Vice. He said that wrestling was his “lifeline.” He kept wondering if his shot was coming next. Sadly, he was taken far too soon.

“Wrestling is my lifeline. Every night I come home and hear how someone got shot… like, what if I’m next? But with wrestling I feel like, finally, I have a shot.”

Travis was known for his work with HOG Wrestling, CZW, and GCW. He will be missed by anyone who ever watched him perform. Our thoughts are with anyone involved in this very sad situation.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
