All Elite Wrestling is doing something totally new in pro wrestling and AEW: Dark is a perfect illustration of the kind of outside the box thinking that could go to really benefit them.

Dark matches are usually held before and after shows as a special treat to the live audience. AEW is changing the very fabric of that idea because if a match is in an AEW ring, it’s recorded for the fans.

The debut episode of AEW: Dark features four matches. One took place before Dynamite and the other three were post-event surprises.

  • Darby Allin vs. Cima
  • Penelope Ford and Bea Priestley vs. Allie and Britt Baker
  • SCU vs. Luchasaurus, Jungleboy and Marko Stunt
  • Private Party and Best Friends vs. Jack Evans, Angelico, Rey Fenix and Pentagon Jr.

Hosted by Tony Schiavone, AEW: Dark promises to show fans something at home that they never could before. It is really an exciting idea and we have to give All Elite Wrestling a ton of credit for this one.

Also, the fact that Jim Ross, Excalibur, and Tony Schiavone did commentary on the dark matches is an excellent touch.
