WWE announced a return of the King Of The Ring Tournament this week on RAW and plenty of fans were excited. A few Superstars were also excited and then immediately disappointed upon discovering that they’re not in the tournament.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE constructed the King Of The Ring Tournament in 2019 for one reason. It is all being built around pushing one guy who will supposedly be the winner of the whole thing.

It wasn’t noted who the entire tournament was brought back for, but WWE apparently brought back the King Of The King Tournament for one particular Superstar.

A lot of fans saw Baron Corbin in the tournament and automatically assumed that he could be in line to become King and add that to his list of previous accomplishments in WWE. However, Ricochet was known as “King Ricochet” for a long time on the indies which might not be worth ignoring, especially with Paul Heyman in a position of creative influence.

This is a very interesting development, but we’ll just have to see who ends up winning the whole thing and what WWE’s direction will be after that. The King Of The Ring Tournament will conclude at Clash Of Champions on September 15th.
