Smackville took place tonight on the WWE Network. It was essentially a Nashville house show that the company changed into a WWE Network special. It might have been a good idea that they ran this special before Summerslam because they have lot of problems to fix with the new Network update.

WWE was advertising Bayley vs Alexa Bliss vs Charlotte Flair for the special. This match was for the SmackDown Women’s Title and some fans were really looking forward to seeing that match. Unfortunately, it didn’t make the air.

This match did go down and Bayley retained, but it happened before the show went live. The same is true for the New Day’s title defense.

Smackville only aired an IC Title match that needed to be changed due to Finn Balor being in the hospital, the main event WWE Title match, and an impromptu match between Kevin Owens and Elias. However, no SmackDown Women’s Championship took place on the special.

This change frustrated and confused several of our awesome readers and we have been asked why they did this. All we can assume is that the SmackDown Women’s Title match was nixed when they decided to make the event only an hour long.

We will keep you updated in case we hear anything different right here at Ringside News.
