Back in 2007, Randy Orton was still in the midst of his Legend Killer gimmick. He had already beaten some of the biggest and best WWE superstars from years gone by, and at Great American Bash, he had the chance to add another one to his list.

He went one on one with Dusty Rhodes, with the two men squaring off in a Texas Bullrope match. Despite Randy eventually getting the win, Dusty, in his old age, was still able to push the youngster to his limit in San Jose.

Although Orton often leads with comedy in his social media posts, the multi-time world champion made an exception as he paid tribute to the legend that is Dusty Rhodes.

It’s now officially been 12 years to the day since that night, and it’s pretty safe to that that Orton was able to take the momentum he’d built up for himself and turn it into something positive.

Now, in the present day, he is widely considered to be one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time. He may not have had too many moments of note in the last year or so, but he’s still got time to add a few more chapters to his phenomenal legacy.

Dusty was able to help bring out the fire in Orton that so many of us wanted to see, and as we look ahead to the future, it’s exciting to think about what else he could accomplish as he continues to go after the WWE Championship once again.
