Kick-Off Show

The Extreme Rules kick-off panel consists of Coach, Beth Phoenix, Charly Caruso, and Sam Roberts.

We see a highlight reel for the Shane McMahon/Roman Reigns feud. While it seemed like that might be the main event, it will in fact open the show. Beth Phoenix says the no holds barred stipulation benefits the Deadman. Roberts says he gets excited like anyone when Undertaker is around but he thinks the stipulation benefits Drew and Shane. They ponder if Roman and Undertaker can put their egos aside to overcome the tandem of Drew and Shane.

Coach mentions that Finn Balor Vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for the Intercontinental Championship will be on the Kick-Off Show. We see Kevin Owens backstage with Kayla Braxton and he says he doesn’t work for Shane McMahon, he works for WWE. The panel says Owens Vs. Ziggler could steal the show.

Next up is the Last Man Standing match between Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman. They talk about if Braun is fit for tonight, because they haven’t seen him in weeks. Roberts says this match will be carnage and they better have the arena prepared.

We see Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans backstage, she’s drinking tea and he’s wearing a snazzy shirt. Corbin says he plans on breaking Rollins’ back with a chair, or maybe he’ll put him through a table, or use Evans’ teapot to hit him. She tells him he won’t be using her teapot, but he can feel free to use a Kendo stick. Evans says she has one with Becky’s name written on it. She says tonight they will not only take Seth and Becky’s titles but destroy their relationship.

(C) Finn Balor Vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

The Championship bout gets underway and both men circle each other before locking-up. Nakamura puts Balor against the ropes and tries to rest his head on his chest but Finn shoves him away, then floors him with a right hand. Balor mocks Nakamura’s taunt.

Nakamura attempts a sunset flip but Finn rolls through and dropkicks him. Balor chops Shinsuke in the corner, but the challenger gets him lying prone on the ropes and knees him. Finn rolls to the apron and Nakamura jumps at him but gets caught by an enziguiri and rolls outside. Balor hits a tope over the ropes and onto Nakamura, then tosses him into the barricade.

Back inside the ring, Nakamura attempts an armbar on Finn but Balor gets him foot on the rope to force the break. Nakamaura kicks Finn in the chest, then delivers some knees to the head. Nakamura applies a guillotine but Finn fights out and hits an overhead kick. Balor floors Nakamura with a dropkick and a spinning elbow slam. Slingblade from Balor, then he looked for the corner dropkick but got kicked by Nakamura.

Nakamura sets Finn on the ropes again but gets hit with an enziguiri. Balor goes to the top rope but Nakamura shoves his feet off. Nakamura kicks the back of Finn and hits a sliding German suplex. Nakamura looks for the Kinshasha but Balor counters with a double foot stomp. A front dropkick is followed by the Coup de Grace but nobody’s home and Nakamura hits a Kinshasha to the back of the head, then one to the front and wins!

Winner and New intercontinental Champion: shinsuke nakamura

The panel discuss Samoa Joe Vs. Kofi Kingston. We get a backstage promo from The New Day, in which they’re standing like the Three Stooges. They joke about beating Daniel Bryan and Erick Rowan and Heavy Machinery. Caruso says Kofi needs to keep Joe on his mind, to which the Champion says he’s inside Joe’s head. After tonight, they’re going to be the WWE Champion and the Tag Team Champions.

WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match

(C) Drew Gulak Vs. Tony Nese

The match begins and Gulak tackles Nese, unleashing some ground and pound. Nese fights his way out as the fans chant “let’s go Gulak”. Nese takes a body lock, then hits a springboard over Gulak, ducks a clothesline, and clotheslines him out of the ring.

Nese jumps out of the ring but nobody’s home, then Gulak connects with a stiff clothesline coming off the apron. Gulak applies a neck crank as we head to a commercial.

We come back to see Nese slide through Gulak’s legs and hit a pump handle slam for a two count. Gulak delivers some big kicks to the challenger but Nese catches one, and hits a German suplex into the turnbuckles. Tony looks for the Running Nese but Gulak grabs him. They brawl onto the apron where Nese hits a moonsault off the ring post onto Gulak!

Nese gets Gulak back in the ring and hits a 450 but Gulak kicks out! Nese and Gulak perform some impressive reversals but it results in a big powerbomb from Gulak for a near-fall. Gulak hits the Cyclone Crash and that’s all she wrote.

Winner: Drew Gulak

The final match for discussion is the mixed tag match with the cringiest world Champions of all-time. They ask whether or not Becky and Seth can focus on this match and what happens if they lose.

The panel give one last quick rundown of Extreme Rules before ending the Kick-Off Show. Here we go!
