Eric Bischoff is now the new Executive Director of SmackDown Live. This was a very surprising move for a lot of people including Fox.

WWE and Fox reportedly have meeting scheduled for next week. We can only assume that Eric Bischoff’s new role in the company will come up if that is the case.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that the Fox side was taken by surprise with this announcement. He didn’t know much, but he did comment that Fox might rather work with Paul Heyman instead.

“At the end of the day you got three different people, three different elements, I mean I don’t know how it’s gonna go. I do know that the Fox people had no idea this was coming and they wanted the other guy. So that’s the stuff I know.”

This is a very interesting turn of events. It could bring a lot of change for the better, or it could just be another attempt from Vince McMahon to convince fans that things are changing behind the scenes when he’s really the one still in control.

Either way, it seems as if Fox isn’t too thrilled about working with the former President of WCW.
