WWE is making a lot of changes to their backstage staff. They brought in several new producers and are filtering the old guard out. It looks like this might be going on with the writing staff as well even after the recent departures around WrestleMania.

Fightful reports that Ryan Callahan was fired from WWE last week. Callahan was a lead writer for the company for several years.

It is reported that the firing “had nothing to do with the ratings, viewership, storylines, or anything of that sort.” Therefore, his termination goes a little bit deeper and involves something else.

It is said that the firing was due to issues Callahan had with Dave Kapoor better known as Rainjin Singh when he performed in the ring. Kapoor apparently believed that Callahan set a bad example for the rest of the writing team as he took creative changes too personally.

It is easy to understand how it can get old to have someone hack up your work every week after writing something. A good writer puts their heart into what they put out there and it can be extremely frustrating when things are changed.

Apparently, Ryan Callahan showed enough displeasure of how WWE does business that he was fired as to not influence others to take things so personally.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
