WWE tries to book thinking long-term, but sometimes things just don’t work out like they’re planned. In the past few months, we have seen the WrestleMania card reform in front of our eyes and it was not Vince McMahon’s original idea for the big show at all.

Becky Lynch was inserted into the Mania main event around Survivor Series and Seth Rollins won the Royal Rumble match. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE had very different plans for this year’s show of shows before things started getting changed around.

“Rousey vs. Flair, along with whatever would be the Universal title match involving Roman Reigns (who was eventually beating Brock Lesnar) would be the headliners.”

WWE is still using Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair, but Becky Lynch is walking in as the fan favorite for that match provided she can beat Flair this Sunday at WWE Fastlane.

Roman Reigns’ leukemia was not in the plans either which meant The Big Dog will not be in the planned WrestleMania main event either. The good news is that he is back and will have some role during the show of shows. It just goes to show that you never know what can happen in WWE.
