Tony Khan is a huge professional wrestling fan. This is what drove him to open his own company with The Young Bucks and Cody Rhodes. All Elite Wrestling had a big Las Vegas rally on Thursday and people are still talking about the big announcements during that event.
While speaking to Wrestling Observer Radio, Khan revealed how AEW will be different. Contrary to popular belief, the company doesn’t have an endless amount of money. Therefore, they can’t sign everyone that is available. However, AEW wants to make sure that there are plans in place to elevate those who they do bring into the company.
“Talent is everything. Everyone wants to see these wrestlers. If we were doing it with inferior talent people would not have this kind of buzz. We’ve got the best wrestling roster in the world right now I think as far as the stars we have, I think as far as work-rate and the crop of stars for the future, the young talent it’s gonna be great.”
“Here’s the thing, we really don’t wanna make the same mistakes that other companies have made in the past. Don’t want this to be a thing where every talented wrestler in the world comes in and gets a guaranteed big deal.”
“Because there are so many great people in the world and unfortunately, economically we can’t, even with another company coming in we still can’t take every talented person. You have to be discerning. We have to choose wisely and pick the best people and make sure that we’re not wasting people and have people just for the sake of keeping them on our roster because we have to have a plan for everybody and I think we’re going to develop some stars and it’s pretty cool.”
Tony Khan and The Elite are in for an adventure that could very well work out for them in a big way. They have all witnessed other companies make mistakes in the past and as students of the industry, they are striving not to repeat those same errors.
With names like Sammy Guevara, Kylie Rae, Nyla Rose, Sonny Kiss, Aja Kong, and more coming into AEW, it is evident that the company is going to give a spotlight to stars who might not have received the most attention in spite of their unbelievable talent. This could prove to be an extremely successful plan.
