All Elite Wrestling has a ton of momentum behind them and even more potential as a company. They are backed by family with a lot of money and can make things happen. Bringing in a talented announce team would be key to the success of their television show.

Mike Johnson discussed the names he heard for AEW’s potential television show on PW Insider Elite audio. There is only one name that has appeared for the company already, but you never know what could be going on with Jim Ross.

“I have not heard anything about the announcers yet except for obviously Alex Marvez who did the launch party for them. One would assume he would be in mix as a potential announcer.

Of course, when anyone is considering a great announcer who is on the free agent market, Jim Ross’ name comes up very fast. He is currently under WWE contract, but his ability to work elsewhere might be coming very soon.

“Jim Ross’ contract is coming up very soon with WWE and once he’s a free agent anything is possible. It all depends on if you want an established voice to be announcer or you’re looking for a fresh voice but one of the things I think helped New Japan Pro Wrestling on AXS not with die-hard fans but people who were just looking through channels was they flipped and they heard Jim Ross’ voice and they stopped.”

Johnson said that he has a couple of friends who did in fact, stop when they heard Ross’ voice on NJPW’s AXS show. It would be great get for AEW to snag Jim Ross, but we will have to see what the WWE Hall Of Famer decides to do in April.
